The Polish Song and Dance Company of Brisbane "OBERTAS" was formed in early 1982 for the initial purpose of performing in the Opening Ceremony of the Brisbane Commonwealth Games, but now "OBERTAS" has a reputation for folkloric songs and dances from a diverse range of Polish regions and historic contexts.
Under the artistic direction of its founder and choreographer, Henryk Michael Kurylewski, the company has, since then, given numerous performances at local venues, as well as in capital cities around Australia participating in television appearances, ten Pol-Art Festivals, two Shell Folkloric Concerts and World Expo '88.
"OBERTAS" has hosted two highly successful Pol-Art Festivals:
Pol-Art 88
and
Pol-Art 2000
