History

The Polish Song and Dance Company of Brisbane "OBERTAS" was formed in early 1982 for the initial purpose of performing in the Opening Ceremony of the Brisbane Commonwealth Games. Under the Artistic Direction of its founder and choreographer, Henryk Kurylewski, the company has given numerous performances at local venues, as well as, in capital cities around Australia participating in television appearances, eight Pol-Art Festivals, two Shell Folkloric Concerts and World Expo '88. "OBERTAS" teaches youth folkloric songs and dances from a diverse range of Polish regions.

"OBERTAS" has been the host of two of the Pol-Art Festivals.
